Self Portrait Artist Statement: A Junior Self-Portrait Illustration by Andrew Thomas (2011)

My image combines the two reactions people have when they see clowns to show my best and at the same time worst quality. I am very good at making people happy but at the same time if I'm in a bad mood or mad at somebody I effect every other person around me negatively. Sometimes I do it purposefully and sometimes it just happens. Clowns make some people very happy and some people very sad or frightened. This clowns shows good traits and bad traits. Instead of being just divided down the middle the traits are mixed around on either side of the clown to show that I have little control over how I affect people. The background is a gradient from light to dark to show a that the way I affect people is my best and worst trait.
