Piecing The Puzzle: A Junior Narrative Illustration by Nikki Kashani (2012)

For my illustration I drew inspiration from my personal essay that I wrote at the beginning of the year. For the essay we had to focus on an object and its impact on our lives. I chose to write about my eyes and how for me, my eyes serve as a capsule of time. My eyes have seen the world as I have grown and for this reason, I decided to draw an eye with the pupil constructed out of puzzle pieces. For me each day is another piece of a puzzle that will continue to build for the rest of my life. Because we had to include typography in our illustration, I took a line from my essay and incorporated it in the puzzle pieces to symbolize my experience as a I continue to grow.
