Something's not quite right: A Junior Narrative Illustration by Yu-Ju Chen (2012)

My story is about a man, probably a teenager or college student, who wakes up with a hangover on a couch. He's confused and a little groggy from a party he went to the night before, so he's basically trying to recollect his thoughts. He wanders around for a while and then he realizes he's in someone else's house. My image is of a beer bottle on a couch. The house he is in clearly belongs to a family of soda cans and that is a direct comparison between the two. The reason for the soda and beer theme is because beer is an obvious representation of a drunken man, and the soda is something completely different from alcohol in content. On the outside, sodas and alcohol are packaged and marketed similarly in cans, bottles, logos, and bright colors, so it is an object that could be mistaken for beer if the subject is a little scatterbrained. Thus, it makes sense he thinks he's in his own house before he comes to.
