The Path of Nowhere: A Junior Narrative Illustration by Caitlin Lewis (2012)

The story which the illustration is based off of: Roary and I had never gotten along. He was always too silly and I was always very serious. He joked around rather cruelly and loved to play tricks on people. I hated him more then anyone. By some chance, I ended up as his partner during the trust walk. Taking this as a challenge of my person, I accepted it. And off we started. It was a rather awkward beginning with him talking about how excited he was and me trying my best to ignore him quietly. But as the sun began to set and the map we had began to become unreadable, I realized what a terrible choice this had been for me to make. We ended up lost in an unfamiliar forest. He voted we stayed were we were, and in my ignorance, I chose to try to find a way back. I didn't know how large that forest was, and I know Roary was found, but I wasn't. I got lost and perished in that endless maze of trees. The story which the illustration is based off of: Roary and I had never gotten along. He was always too silly and I was always very serious.
