Refraction: A Senior Profile Portrait by Zachary Daniloff (2011)

Tyson Bevelle is lost in his past. He lives in a desolate empty apartment with a circular table for one, a desk, a couch that doubles as a bed, and a TV with a Playstation 3. His childhood dreams of becoming a Major League Gamer continually affect his professionalism at Yahoo, negatively. An adult of twenty-three years of age, he is bright, creative, and on the right track for his dream career in the software industry, but he is unable to sever his tie with his childhood dreams. This only causes frustration towards the game and the online players, which transfers into anger and negative energy in his work place. He pushes away friends and family with his attitude, sending him back to his lonely, convoluted childhood. Just like he wanted. He wants to go back to his past to face the issues of his sister's death and onset of his depression. He is wearing a blue shirt and tie to illustrate his professionalism and sadness with his life even though he is leading his so called ''dream''. The redness of his face illustrates the anger that comes from the game and transfers into his persona. The way he is positioned at the tip of his chair with the PS3 controller close to his face illustrates his impatience with the game and a lack of desire to continues, but for some dark reason he does. He plays his games in the desolate darkness of his apartment attempting to reconnect with his childhood which was full of turmoil. The gaming headset he wears connects him with his past; the fact that they are over the ear, which shuts out all other noise of the world, shows that he is fully focused on fixing his past.
