Alexander Corbell: A Senior Comic Strip by Fernando Martinez (2012)

The character I created was Alexander Corbell. He is a rather witty individual who often uses sarcasm to mask his actual emotions or feelings. He is also known for his sheer, sometimes unwanted honesty. To represent him I created a tentacled creature with some sort of ''life gem'' in its core. Corbell's creature has exceptionally long tentacles that represent the sarcasm that he uses to keep people away from his actual self and from what he's thinking. In comparison to his partner, who's tentacles are really only stubs, meaning that she is a very open person. Despite Corbell's reluctance to open himself up to others, in this comic strip he actually sacrifices himself to save his partner. They find themselves in a hopeless situation in which they are surrounded by enemy vessels. He tells her to bring him something from the back of the sub but instead shoves her into the escape pod as she is walking there. She is able to get away and Corbell then rams their sub into the enemy base, destroying it in the process.
