The Stand up Man : A Senior Mise en Scene Illustration by Zachary Daniloff (2012)

These are two brothers, attempting to break into someones house to reclaim their stolen property. Each wears a ski mask and hoodies to cloak their identities, but an outdoor light provides some luminance. The older brother, closest to the door, is shadowed by the bush and beckons the other brother to come to the door as well. The other brother realizes better alternatives to breaking into a house and is in frozen in motion as he walks away from the scene. His head is tilted down slightly to show a sense of shame from deserting his brother, but deep down he knows its the right decision. The lighting on each of the characters provides a nice contrast between the two people, and further enhances the tension of the situation.
