Waiting for Eva: A Junior Narrative Diptych by Laurel Haspert (2013)

For my narrative diptych I chose to focus on the conflict and the resolution of my story. The first picture is Damian holding a picture of his sister who disappeared. The second picture is of a memorial for his sister. At the end of my story, Damian doesn't stop worrying about his sister but he isn't without hope. I used my own camera (a Nikon D3100) to take the pictures for this piece. This allowed me to use my low light lens. Because the aperture can openly so widely on the 1.4 F-stop prime, the depth of field is shortened and the background blurs out. This creates more of a personal feeling to the photo because there's just you and the person, nothing else is in focus, there are no distractions.
