Acting Up: A Junior Narrative Diptych by Lora Maslenitsyna (2013)

For my narrative diptych, I chose to represent the conflict and the resolution of the story I developed in English. In the story, a girl who grows up with artistic parents and friends feels pressured to pursue art, although she has a passion for science and math. The conflict is shown in the first photo, in which my protagonist is reading a book on technological discoveries in a theater. She is still afraid to be herself and creates an image for herself, hence the dark boots and the headband; her attempt at a more grunge look. She sits alone in the theater, as if she was supposed to be rehearsing with a group but has stolen away for a moment of peace with her book. On the right side of the diptych I have represented the resolution to the story. My character finally decides to follow her passion and enrolls in Stanford programs for science. She no longer hides behind a facade of interest in the arts. For my narrative diptych, I chose to represent the conflict and the resolution of the story I developed in English.
