Oliver Sanchez: A Senior Profile Portrait by Elizabeth Miotke (2014)

For the Profile Unit, I documented Oliver Sanchez. Oliver is the owner of Notaro's Graphic Services, Inc. located in South San Francisco. At his company, he is responsible for anything that involves paper, including printing business cards and letterheads. Many of his products involve techniques, such as embossing, engraving, and foil stamping.

I chose to document Oliver because I knew him personally as my friend's step dad, but I never really knew much about Notaro's, besides the fact that he owned this company. The documentary gave me the perfect opportunity to learn more about him as a person and also an understanding as to what he does on a day to day basis. I realized the large amount of effort and time Oliver invests in his business, even though paper printing has become less demanded over the years. However, he still shows up at work with a smile on his face. From this whole experience, I learned that doing what you love will never be wasted.
