Scott Douthit: A Senior Profile Portrait by Gabrielle Makower (2014)

For the profile unit I documented Scott Douthit, more commonly known as Mr. D. Mr. D is a dyslexic PE and Drama teacher at an entirely dyslexic school. I found Mr. D extremely fascinating because of all of the challenges he has overcome. Growing up as a severe dyslexic with many people doubting his abilities, he has grown into an inspirational mentor for children very similar to him. I learned about what made him the way he is, and how he is so great at connecting with the children he teaches. The experience of documenting Mr. D was incredible, for he is such a devoted and passionate person and I was extremely honored to have the opportunity to document such an incredible person.
