Arlene Miyata: A Senior Profile Portrait by Cindy Nguyen (2014)

An individual that I find important in the community is Arlene Miyata. She is a full-time music teacher at Crittenden Middle School and actively participates in musical activities at Arroyo High School as well. The reason why I chose to create a profile on her is because she has personally touched my life when I was her student back in seventh grade and we have remained in constant communication since. I was able to learn more in-depth about how she grew up, how she came to be, and how music has been prevalent in her own life. This experience brought me closer to her, someone I look up to on a daily basis, and reinforced my belief that music can truly help and inspire others.
