Suspicion On A Long Walk: A Junior Conceptual Project by Brennan Myers (2015)

My design includes the media aspects of both acrylic paints and photography that was complemented by the use of Adobe Photoshop. I first took a picture, edited it in photoshop, and splattered acrylic paints onto the printed version of the photo. I shot the initial photograph of my shoes tied together in the middle of the road, which symbolized how fear will stop someone in their tracks while their suspicion is raised during a long walk. Then I edited the picture to incorporate a bright red into it, which incorporates the feelings of fear and suspicion perfectly. The color red invokes a very uncomfortable, cautionary feeling, which is why I chose it to show the feeling of suspicion.

With the acrylic paints, I mixed a blue color with a purple color to create a very rich mixture, and I used a paintbrush to splatter the paint onto the photoshopped photo. I chose the color of purple because like red, it compliments the feeling of suspicion. The purple is unique though because it does not compliment the feeling of suspicion in the same way that red does. The purple complements the feeling of suspicion because purple is a very hidden, dark color. A key reason to feel suspicion is to not know who or what is lurking in the darkness, and the color purple represents that darkness very well. I also used acrylic paints to paint red eyes onto the photoshopped picture which is a common symbol of suspicion.
