Ordinary Joe: A Junior Narrative Illustration by Mateo Kaiser (2018)

My flash fiction was about a blue-collar worker who is laid off from his job in a factory after his job is taken over by automation.

I began this image with some rough sketches and then moved onto illustrator. In illustrator extensively on my animal, which is a cross of an elk, an Ibex, and a lion. I chose these animals to show the contrast between my characters feeling of loneliness with being in a close-knit feeling. I encountered some difficulties in making my animal have fur that looked at least somewhat textured.
