Artist Statement:

My piece is about finding music in unexpected places. To me, music is a loosely defined term. You can find music in the rhythm of people walking on the street, in the whistling of the wind, or even in the scratching of a pencil on paper. This is represented in my first photograph because the guitar is slung over my shoulder the same way a traveler’s bag would be. It symbolizes that I am taking the music with me wherever I go. My second photograph represents my discoveries of music in nature. I paired these together to convey that I discover music everywhere. I hope this piece inspires you to listen for the music in your everyday life, and try to discover the beat and cadence of your surroundings.
