Welcome to my documentary website!

Hello and welcome to my documentary website! In this unit we were challenged to pick a location of our choice, and then were required to expose a hidden meaning that this location has. I selected Moffett Field Historical Society Museum at moffett field. My goal was to unveil not only the history there, but more importantly expose the sense of family.

I primarily chose MFHS because I love learning about the rich history of mountain view and the greater bay area. In fact Moffett played one of the largest roles in making the bay area what it is today (other than Fairchild and Stanford University).

In English we were required to write a paper based around our location, and through it we were challenged by uncovering the hidden story about it. We had to conduct three interviews at our location as well as accumulate 6 secondary sources to enhance our writings. Through the paper writing process, I have improved as both a writer and interviewer, as these skills were essential for crafting a good documentary. To view my paper, click here.

In design our goal was to take our paper and convert it into a satisfying book that used a perfect balance between good design, composition, and theme. To actually stitch a book that met all of this criteria, we used program called Adobe InDesign. This program was new to me, but it was really awesome being able to create a book from scratch with endless possibilities. To view my book, click here.

Finally in web Audio we built a website (like my self portrait and narrative websites), instead this website was focused solely on our location. We also created an audio slide show and a transcript. additionally we conducted our interviews with small recorders and edited them in a program known as pro tools. This project was not an simple one, it required a lot of time, and also stretched a lot of skills, but all in all I really enjoyed the project. I mean how many high schoolers actually get the opportunity to write there very own book? Very few, so in that case I am very blessed to have gotten the ability to do so.
