Welcome to my Conceptual website. In Freestyle our first unit was the Conceptual Unit. The purpose of the project was to take an concept state we got in English then use technology and art to make a big project in all of our classes. In English we were assigned to create different poems and then we took those poems based on our concept statement to take and find photos in Web Audio and design. Each class contributed by adding something to our poems and our original concept statement whether it was taking picture of the concept statement or designing an image to go with our poems. Each button above will take you to a different project I did while here. I've learned a lot during this unit including trusting my abilities to do the art and achieve what I want to achieve. Also I learned how to use a lot of cool technology which all helped make this awesome page. I hope you enjoy.

In English class we were assigned to write 3 poems besides our Haiku. The 10 line poem was another poem relating with my concept statement I'm exploring the feeling of resentment through the unknown. We also wrote an ekphrastic poem which is a poem based on a piece of art. We took a field trip to the De Young Museum and were told to find a piece to write about. Then we had the spoken word assignment. We started by finding different examples of spoken word poetry on the Internet then we wrote one of our own about any topic. In Web Audio we took all of these poems and found images to go with them and in Photoshop we added the poems to the images. I hope you enjoy my poetry.

In English class we had an assignment to pick to random things one emotion and one experience, this was our concept statement. We then used that to write a Haiku. My conceptual statement was I'm exploring the feeling of resentment through the unknown. We wrote the Haiku then took a picture to represent that Haiku. Then in Web Audio using Pro Tools and Flash we made our Haiku's into videos. This was first big project in Freestyle and it taught me a lot about how to manage time and got me comfortable using some of the technology needed to create this. Artist Statement

I am exploring the feeling resentment through the unknown.

In my photo I took a picture of an opaque window in the dark with a light on the inside. I choose these items because the resentment represents the darkness of the outside and the unknown is the opaque window since you can’t really see what is inside. I choose to have the light on the inside to show that the unknown could possibly be brighter then the darkness of the resentment around me. The light also represents the unknown because all around me is darkness and resentment and I don’t know how to feel happy. I chose to have it a little bit crooked because the unknown and resentment aren’t great things and they both make you feel uncomfortable and unstable.

In Photoshop I learned how to use the pen tool and also how to apply a filter onto a certain region. In my project I used the pen tool to select the middle window. After that I selected that object getting “marching ants” and then applied a filter on everything but that window using the inverse selection. I also turned down the brightness of the light bulb inside by making another selection with the pen tool. That is how I used Photoshop.

My picture show the feeling of resentment with the darkness around me and the unknown is represented through the opaque window and the light on the inside. The darkness represents how you feel when you resent someone or something. And the opaqueness represents the unknown and how you can’t really see what is behind it.

The assignment of my website was to create at least a minute long piece in Pro Tools. The inspiraton of this piece was the music was the music that I like to listen to. Theres not really a meaning to my music its just what makes me happy. In Pro Tools we used a M-Audio piano to create music. I used the expand tool to create the songs. This project taught me a lot about music and how to create it which for me was a challenge that made me very excited that the final product turned out nicely.
