A Tale to Tell

The second unit at Freestyle, Narrative, focuses on the ability to tell a story. Each class had different projects that eventually culminated into a final product, in my case, a Flash animation.

This website contains most of the work I've done during this unit.

English is where the story was first conceptualized as a graphic novel, and then a short story at or under 700 words.

In Design, I created a diptych 'photo'-narrative and an illustration using typography.

I made an Animatic (moving storyboard) and Flash Animation in WebAudio based off of my story.

Having the opportunity to further my skills as a narrative writer has been a useful opportunity, as that's the area of writing that I've always felt weakest in. Getting to write more than one story would have been interesting, but for the sake of time and simplicity, I'm glad I only had to focus on one.

Learning Flash was an intense experience, mostly because I still feel like I've only scratched the surface with it. I wish I'd have gotten more time to experiment with animation techniques before having to roll right into doing the animation for my story.

Anyhow, enjoy, the fruits of my labor.
