Sample Instrumental

This page samples my idea for a musical. It follows the story of the “Little Match Girl” by Hans Christian Anderson. The approach I took on the story was a strict following of the story line. Often the story is censored because many of the adaptations are for younger audiences. In my story I have the main protagonist due to neglect from her father. This is in order to bring to light the issue of child abuse and neglect.

I based the design of the playbill and website off of the idea of “fire” and “matches” which is why I choose to have the text burning. Overall the design is fairly minimal, but this is in order to draw attention to the title.

I featured three songs. Two songs take place at some point in the musical, one song features my process in finding these songs. One song is entitled “Somewhere”. The song is written to be a duet between mother and daughter while she daughter is about to die. The mother is sorry for not being there while they are growing up, but is happy that her daughter is now going to join her in heaven.
