The focus of the narritive unit was the formation of a story. We wrote the concept for our story in english. We were taught story arcs, this showed us how to make out story much more exciting and intresting. We then turned our story arc into a graphic novel. With the graphic novel we made we started to transition into toon boom in web audio and in design we choose a person to represent the protagonist in our story.

We had our first exposure to three point lighting and posing a real person. We then went into Photoshop and made small edits to the photo and added a vignette to the photo. In Webaudio we chopped up the graphic novel paneles and put them into Toonboom to make our animatic. In design we later started our comic. Our comic project took a scene from our graphic novel and we illustrated it in Illustrator.

My personal story was about the rescue of a bird and the mothers disaproval. A little girl finds an injured bird and wants to help this bird, but the girls mother catches her and makes her get rid of the bird. Out of rebellion, the girl takes the bird and hides it in her house, however the mother finds it and tries to get rid of it by throwing it out. There is a big confict between mother and child, but the story ends with the bird again being able to fly.

In my story the protagonist is actually the mother. She is misunderstood and from the eyes of a child its seen as evil, in reality the mother truley loves her daughter and the development is seen in my graphic novel. In the end one sees the resolution and acceptance of the mother. In the end once again there is the motherly bond between the two.

The story my graphic novel is somewhat based off of events that I had had when I was a child. During the spring, my elementary school had a few baby birds that unfortunatly fallen out of the nest and passed away. I felt pity for these birds and being the small child that I was I thought these birds were still alive. I put these birds in a plastic easter egg that I had in my pocket and took them home. When my mom saw them I was scolded, but later she realized that I just wanted to help them. She allowed me to bury them in our front yard and hold a small funeral for these baby birds.
