" I’ve never had a pit bull that was vicious to people never ever ever ever. "
~Dr. Dave Roos

In this documentary project we juniors at Freestyle Academy were required to pick a topic in which we would research and create multiple smaller projects on. First we had to write a short essay that would help pre pare us for the big essay that we would write for our books and magazines that we would design. We then had to find 3 people to interview about our topic and create transcripts of those interviews. The data we collected from those would be used for information and quotes in our book later on. In Digital Media we had to create an into video that showcased what our project was about using Adobe After Effects. In design we created and designed a book that contained our essay, graphic elements, quotes and photos. To create this book we used Adobe InDesign and uploaded them to a webight called Blurb to print them. The final thing we did was finish creating this website in Digital Media to display the differnt things that we created throughout this Documentary Project.I really enjoyed this project because we were able to choose our topic and I was able to do something that I was really passionate about.

For my Documentary I chose to research the lives of Pit Bulls. My family had worked to save and help quite a few over the past year and a half. Pit Bulls are so mistreated and represented and I felt as though they deserved for people to know the truth about the, they are the sweetest, most loving dogs you will ever meet. My goal for this project was to reach out to the people who do cross the street when they see a Pit Bull or talk bad about them even though they have no real experince with them, because they deserve a chance just like any other breed of dog.

For our Documentary project, i decided to dedicate my time to creating a book that would educate people on Pit Bulls and how there is no reason for them to fear them. To create my book we used Adobe InDesign, this would allow us to experience the process that many people go throug to create newspapers, books, mgazines and more. We created photo bleeds and guides and learned the ways to create a well organized and creative book. I created graphic elements in Adobe Ilustrator to add my book and learned how to create color schemes layouts to make all of these elements work together in a neat and orgaanized way.

Even though creating the book was a difficult task, I enjoyed the learning process that was taken to create this piece. Before this project I had no idea how difficult it was to produce a book as short as mine.

Interviewing people for my documentary was one of the most important things i did in terms of research, it gave me an oportunity to talk to people who have lots of experience in their fields and are working to help animals every day. I chose these three individuals because they

Name of person 1
Del Owen

Del Owen is a local resident in Los Altos, she has spent the last 11 years running a small boutique in Downtown. Since she has spent so much time in the heart of or town she has been able to socialize with many other los altos residents as well as many visitors. This has helped her immensely with dog rescue, being that she is connected with such a large group of people and was able to hold a couple rescue events in her little shop before closing up and dedicating her time to helping dogs. Over the years her love for rescue dogs has grown tremendously, but her drive to help these animals really started after her family adopted a pitbull mix puppy back in 2015. She personally pulled 7 dogs that were on the Euthanasia list and is working to get them rehomed or as already found them a forever home. She has also followed and helped hundreds of animals by posting, re-posting and donating to try and get these dogs home safely or out of kill shelters. Facebook has been a huge tool in her rescue process and is her biggest means of communication with many other rescue people. Everyday, she continues to help dogs and hopes to continue for many years to come. Del Owen is a great woman and a great example of how anyone can help if they have the mindset and love for animals. Thank you so much for what you do to save Pit Bulls and for being such a key resource in my documentary!

Dr. Dave Roos
Dr. Dave Roos

Dave Roos has been a veterinarian for over 50 years and founded Adobe Animal Hospital in 1964. Over those years he worked with thousands of animals and was a great resource for my documentary being that he has so much experience with so many different types of dogs. Recently, Del Owen pulled a dog from a shelter that was about to be killed and none other than the Dr. Dave Roos fell in love with him. The two companions spend much of their days together and will continue to be adventure buddies for many days to come. Thank you so much Dr. Roos for being such a great help with the documentary and for taking care of our beloved boy Chester.
