My name is Jasmine Ta. As a student at Freestyle Academy, I take on several projects every year, developing and improving new skills in Adobe programs, like Illustrator, Photoshop, and Animate. I take Digital Media, a special course which gives me the skills to create the website you see now as well as mix music and create audio/visual effects in videos. This is just some of the programs and skills I learned from over two years.
Navigating through the sticky notes on the side, the websites you will see are two year's hard work; photographs, stories, and videos that express how I and other people view the world and what they and I might like to see instead. These include an animation, a commerical, a magazine article, and several stories...
Conceptual
This project's purpose was to teach students how to express themselves through unconventional methods like poetry, music, an essay, and photographs.
It was a rough beginning to a rough year, but in this unit I learned the basics of Photoshop, creating an idea, and website building. Being especially inadequate when it comes to visual metaphors, I somehow managed to dig up some cute characters anyways.
Narrative 1
This project’s goal was to create a structured story visually through graphic novels, animations, and film.
This was a rough project as well, considering I couldn’t draw. Even so I learned the basics of animation in Adobe Animate, comic building in Illustrator, and the structure of storytelling. My attempt at cheating my way out of backgrounds took form in a completely white world with color characters- something that probably went over many heads.
Documentary
This project’s purpose was to teach students how to creatively and truthfully reveal light on a significant issue, person, or group in the community through interviews, articles, and photos.
I didn’t like this project very much. Still, I learned the basics of interviewing, article writing, and video editing in Adobe AfterEffects, and I furthered my knowledge of photography. Through my hardship and failures, I learned a valuable lesson: I’ll never enjoy being a journalist.
Explorations
This project's goal was to expand the skills taught and passions acquired in previous projects in whatever way the student liked: animations, graphic novels, films, etc
If I couldn’t have my way in the end, I decided to at least let this project go out with a bang. Despite knowing my lack of artistry, I insisted on creating a video storybook, drawing on the knowledge I developed in After Effects and Illustrator to create a story especially personal to me.
Reflections
This project's goal was to reflect on the experiences and struggles of others through lyrical essays, and to improve/learn new skills on previous programs.
This project marked the beginning of senior year in Freestyle, a new year to be better, do better. I then proceeded to complete projects that were subjectively excellent, but my newfound perfectionist attitude had me wanting more. A newfound, if irritating trait.
Narrative 2
This project's goal was to expand on the short story structure by adding dialogue and new techniques
This Unit follows the Reflection Unit and was motivated by the desire to Change. The main dish, the English Short Story, was all about finding the determination to change your mindset and stubbornly realize who you are.
Zenith
Tthis project's goal was to create a final product based on newfound skills and a particular interest, then present it as a product.

Portfolio
This project goal was to compile all the Freestyle work through the years and condense it into a portfolio to present as personal growth in creativity and skill.

Old Project Info Page
This was an old project info page from Junior year. Like most other students', it has a standard format, and like most other students', the page does have its own creative flair.
In retrospect, despite being bland (and even forgetting to update the Explorations thumbnail, oops) the old info project page did show who I was: clumsy, bad at color schemes, bad at jokes, and forgetful.
