Me during freshman year.

Greetings! I am Julia and welcome to my self-portrait website.
During the first months of my Junior year at Freestyle Academy, we focused on the Self-Portrait unit.
We integrated this theme into all of our classes and projects.
For English, I made a list of "Ten Things I Have Learned in my Life So Far", wrote a personal essay, and read an autobiography. I then applied the "things I have learned" as themes for my Design projects, the self-portrait diptych and self-portrait illustration. For these projects, we were introduced to and used Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. In WebAudio, I created a personal essay and a "Things I Have Learned" podcast using GarageBand. Also, a big part of the Self-Portrait unit for WebAudio is this very website. This website would not have been made without Adobe DreamWeaver for the template and design, and Adobe Illustrator for the graphics. All of these programs mentioned were a little challenging at first, but once I got the hang of them, they were super fun to use.

This first unit has introduced me to so many new outlets for creativity and imagination; the limits to what I can and will be able to do are endless.

Clean and simple yet eye popping designs are quite intriguing to me. I love the way bright colors look against a crisp white surface, which is why I made a simple design for my website.

Also, I really enjoy doodling, therefore I decided to use Illustrator and the handy brush tool to create a cute squiggly line as my outermostwrapper. The loops and waves of the line are so pretty and I absolutely love how they look. The intertwining doodle and cursive handwriting is something that I have been playing around with for a while. Connecting them seemed perfect to me! Because cursive is so beautiful but such a lost skill, I was glad I could showcase it along with my doodling ideas on my website.

With my self-portrait website, I wanted to portray how I try to appreciate the simplicities surrounding me while life becomes cluttered and chaotic.
Hopefully my website will allow you to appreciate the simple pleasures and such of life as well!
