This month in Freestyle, we worked on a project called the "Narrative Project" in which we create a story about a fictional character without the use of unnatural events. The story isn't supposed to relate to our lives in anyway, but rather it is supposed to catch a readers attention and make them want to continue reading about this individual's event.

Once we had chosen our story, character, and where exactly he'd be, we began to work on our story and animation. We used a program called Toon Boom in order to animate our story, using backgrounds that we created in Illustrator to show where our character was traveling to. For example, when my character got off the train, he was found in train station where he left it to go through the grassy medow towards the forest. Personally, I really enjoyed using Toon Boom, and though it was difficult to see your previous drawings (making it hard to tell where to put your character next), I still feel it did a decent enough job to make a show worthy animation.

In Design we were asked to create an illustration that sums up the whole story into one picture. By using drop shadows, depth perception, and using one horizon line & vanishing point, I was able to summarize my whole story. We were supposed to add a lot of life into the picture, capturing images and different scenary that would be seen in our stories. Personally, I love using Illustrator because it allows you to draw freehandedly, while giving you many other tools that you will need in the future. Therefore, I feel my illustration came out pretty nice!
