Welcome to my documentary website!

This unit allowed us to dig deep through topics that interested us so that we could experience the process of documenting. I chose to document video games and the women who play them. During this unit, I interviewed people, took photos, and created an audio slideshow and book. Through out this project I used Flash, Photoshop, Bridge, Illustrator, ProTools, InDesign, and Dreamweaver.

So far, this project has been the hardest out of all the ones I've done so far. Gathering information in terms of collaborating with other people, my interviewees, was quite difficult at first. I had to decide who to interview and then relate their answers and opinions together to create a 6-7 page research paper. One of my interviewees, Jenna Leder, was kind enough to let me interview her through the phone, even though she lives on the East Coast. After conversing through multiple emails and figuring out the time difference, I finally successfully interviewed her in one sitting. Ed Chen, my other interviewee, is my father. He is a video game hardware designer at AMD, so reaching him only meant going downstairs. My last interviewee, Josh Anderson, is one of my very close friends at school. Photographing him and interviewing him proved to be a very fun experience. Handling all the interviews and learning to juggle multiple different programs (such as the ones listed above) was very tiring and time consuming. Editing voice recordings in ProTools, and using Flash to create an audio slideshow was definitely a handful. The book, which I designed and put together in InDesign took many days after school to complete.

This website was designed and created by me. I drew the background, game controller, and buttons in Illustrator. Illustrator is a program that allows you to draw and import pictures to trace. After I exported my drawings, I was able to bring them into Dreamweaver to put on my website.

So please look around and take your time :).

Many thanks to Mr. Florendo, Ms. Parkinson, and Ms. Tillim for their help with this project.
