For English in the documentary unit, we discovered a topic close to our family or community that we found interesting and undiscovered. We wrote a paper exploring and explaining an aspect of it that we thought gave it a different perspective that we believed that a majority of the public might be unaware of. The subject I decided to investigate was an ancient Indian dance form, called Bharatanatyam, that has widespread influences throughout the world. It was a subject I was familiar with because I'd been to several beautiful performances with these Indian dancers and constantly heard notices of it within the Indian community, so I thought it would be an interesting subject to enlighten those who were unacquainted with it. I decided to interview some practicers of the dance to understand the appeal of the dance and appreciate its place in so many communities around the world.

For web/audio this unit, we set out on making a new website that would display what we learning how to create an audio slideshow. This slideshow would display a series of photographs we had taken for design incorporated with the audio we'd gathered from the interviewees. The slideshow is meant to summarize the main concepts from our research paper from English.

The Photobook is an arrangement of the photos we shot and photoshopped for design along with 3/4 of the our research paper. As we created the book using InDesign, we worked on exploring different photo and text arrangements such as full page spreads and grids. I hope the viewer can appreciate the new photoshopping and layout techniques I learned in creating this original composition.

Our background music is an original composition that we created using Reason.

Artistically and technically, we were exposed to new tools, such as protools and InDesign so we broadened out capabilities in these areas, as well as getting experience with tools we were already familiar with (Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver). In Web, we also started experimenting with sounds and mixing In English, we learned how to connect with people so we could understand their stories and find new perspectives on them.
