A pile of apples, brown leaves, broken pumpkins, a bare corn cob, etc.

This week, we were supposed to use trash as our inspiration to tell a story or create something beautiful. I took this photo at a farm, where off to the side of the apple orchards there was a pile of raked leaves, discarded apples and broken pumpkins. It was the compost pile, left to decay. Next to the beautiful farm scenery and red apples, this pile was ugly. This trash is not beautiful in the traditional sense, but it is interesting to look at, filling the frame with interesting shapes and colors. It also tells a bittersweet story about how these things, once whole and beautiful, were discarded and left to rot. It follows the cycle of nature from life to death.
