Rule of Thirds: Motion

This is a photo I took in a neighborhood for the prompt “Rule of Thirds: Motion.” I was experimenting with night photography with long exposure, focusing on the headlights from cars as they drove by. I set the camera up on a tripod to keep it steady for the long exposure. The balance between the long exposure, which is better for night photography because it lets in a lot more light, and the ISO and aperture which also affect the amount of light absorbed. I am happy with the way this photo turned out, with the brightness of the different areas of the photo at a good balance. I especially like how the blurred line of the lights seems to glow and reflect off the pavement below. I cropped the photo to rule of thirds afterwards, with the light following the bottom third line and the perpendicular street following the vertical third line. I think this photo is appropriate to this prompt because of how the long exposure shows the movement of this car over time in a visually interesting way.
