Shaka Dickson

This is my main interviewee Father of two kids and a beats producer. His hobby in creating the tracks music lived throughout his life and grew up with him and even after he settled down to have a family he still found time to develop his own personal style in order for it to mature with him. Although he does not create his music for a fanbase but more for fun, he is still very talented at what he does. Shaka was born and raised in the Bay Area, and was exposed to a variety of different types of culture, and music. His budding passion for producing music started in High school where he was inspired by his fellow peers who had done it before him. His views on Hip hop have changed over the years saying that it’s more commercialized these days with simpler lyrics, with less intellectual subject matters. The beats are also more simple with a lot of base which now appeals more to a younger audience.

Ahmad Washington

High School student athlete who is also a soundcloud rapper. Originally from the east coast he grew up listening to a lot of the mainstream rappers and legends of Hip Hop from an early age. But it wasn’t until he moved to Los Altos, California, that he decided to make music of his own. However, for years now he’s been able to write down hundreds of potential song lyrics for his notebook. With his high energy and passion for creating music and being the life of the party.

Mike Smith

A high school english teacher with a lot to say about the Hip Hop culture and even has freestyles of his own to share with his class. I was able to sit down and talk to Mike Smith about this ever changing genre of music known as Hip Hop. Considering that Mr. Smith is an avid follower of Hip Hop and also has appreciation for the English language and is able to compare and deconstruct the lyrics. His opinions and analysis of Hip Hop/ Rap today is very informative because he was able to distinguish how the lyrics have become watered down in their subject matters and how the motives of a whole culture has changed.
