Zipporah Alcaraz
Introduction
Aloha fellow internet users! My name is Zipporah Alcaraz, and this is my Projects Information Page. Here you can gain access to a variety of projects I have created throughout my 2 years at Freestyle. Throughout creating various projects at Freestyle, I’ve been able to learn and grow more as a person, designer, and artist. If you look through my website, you'll be able to see the process of how I've come to be where I am today.

Self-Portrait
“Who Am I?” was the first question I had to answer at Freestyle. The Self-Portrait is all about expressing who you are whilst trying to find out who you are during the process. This unit, in a sense, was very explorative, since I was able to try a lot of new things. I learned how to manually use a camera, create a website on DreamWeaver, make illustrations in Illustrator, and edit photos on Photoshop. Other than creating multimedia projects, the Self-Portrait unit gave me a jumpstart on my creative process, and helped me understand myself as an individual being. If you want to see how I began my Freestyle experience, feel free to check out my Self-Portrait website!

Narrative 1
Every person has the ability to create stories. Whether it be real or not, stories truly bring people together, and helps bring empathy into our lives. In the Narrative unit, we were asked to create a short story that would be the basis for a graphic novel, animation, and illustration we would make using ToonBoom Studios, Illustrator, and other softwares. As I created my story, I began to understand the importance of chronology and the various ways we can share messages with others. Come see the different ways of storytelling by visiting my website!

Documentary
Do you ever wonder what makes music so impactful? or the skill and process of learning about music educationally? At Peery Piano Academy, children of all ages are taught the fundamentals of piano that allow them to grow in their musical ability. I chose this place for the Documentary unit because I believe music is important to have in our lives, since it moves people in such extraordinary ways. While interviewing the people associated with Peery Piano and researching the music education system, I was able to learn about the hard working process that goes into teaching young musicians. If you would like to know more about Peery Piano Academy, come and view my website!

Conceptual
To start off Conceptual unit, we were asked to randomly pick two slips of paper from two different backs. One bag had slips with an emotion on them, and the other bag had slips with an action/idea. After choosing these pieces of paper, you would then insert the words into a statement that then becomes your concept for the unit. My statement was “I’m exploring the feeling of denial through the experience of a long walk.” Using this as my concept, I created several pieces which includes a multimedia art project, original poems, an animation, music, and more. If you’d like to see the projects I created for this unit and the process behind them, you can view my website by clicking the link button!

Profile
“I’m not a good actor because I have empathy, empathy is what makes me a good actor,” says the 2nd tallest man I’ve ever met. Walter M. Mayes is a published writer. He is a caring father, a person to look up to, and possibly the most interesting person I’ve ever met. At 6’8, he towers over people playing rulers, and kings, savior to those in need of being transported to a different world. In hopes of showing people the awe-inspiring person he is, I’ve dedicated my time in getting to know him and the world he lives in. Through a profile article, a website, and images captured of him in action, I tried my best to fulfill the task of introducing you to coolest man you will ever meet. If you want to see him, and want to know why he is an important human being, then enter my website to meet the one and only Walter M. Mayes.

Narrative 2
Similar to Narrative 1, we are once again asked to write another story. Although this time we have different projects. Instead of creating a graphic novel made animation, we are going to delve into the world of publishing, surrealism, and how to tell a “dialogue-driven” story. This project will be finished by the end of this year, so come back then in order to check it out! Thanks!

Innovator
The Innovator project is a free for all project, in which we as students are able to create whatever we want and show it to you, the world. For mt project, I collaborated with PM film student, Savannah Carroll-Muñoz, to create a website highlighting young local artists and the work they've created. We were able to meet several amazing and talented people, and if you click on the link you won't only get to see their work, but to hear about their views on art and why it is important to them.

Portfolio
At the end of the year we are asked to showcase one out of the several things we’ve created at Freestyle Academy. This can be our photography, website designs, poetry, documentaries, illustrations, music, you name it. To mark our end of the journey, a panel of professionals are asked to look at our pieces and critique the things we have done, enabling us to improve our skills and show people the things we’ve learned to do. For my portfolio I decided to showcase my documentary websites, so if you want click on the link to check it out! Thanks!

Old PIP
My old Projects Info Page, was one of the first pages I’ve ever made at Freestyle. This website was made with basic code, and does not include any of the javascript or jquery functions that we’ve learned this year. You can mostly expect to see something simple and messy, but to my dismay, I ask you to take a look at it so you can see the progress I’ve made as a website designer. I’ve grown so much from just using the DreamWeaver templates to now writing my own code and making professional looking websites, so please take a look at my old PIP to see how far I’ve come.
