This PSA is a reminder to never forget to appreciate the people and environment that surround you. Say “thank you” whenever you can; don’t wait until it’s too late to show your gratitude to the people and things that you care so much about. In this PSA you can see a group of people hugging while staring off into the mountains. This is a representation of appreciation not only for peers/friends, but also for the environment. Additionally, at the forefront of this image is a sticky note reminding you as if on your daily to-do list to not forget your “thank you’s.” I chose this color scheme because purple and pink bring a sort of comfort and sentimental value while the dark red ink on the sticky note creates a sense of urgency. The key takeaway I hope the audience gets from this is never to take people for granted and to cherish the joy they receive.
In making this I used web images of objects that I initially sketched out on paper such as the balloons and sticky note and in Illustrator proceeded with the “image trace” feature. Working with the layers to make sure the background is truly in the back and the text on top of the sticky note, I carefully organized the images. Next, I made some adjustments in color. For example, the balloons were initially gold and the sticky note was yellow. I struggled in trying to move the images as a whole after image-tracing them which made the different colors and shades separate entities though side-by-side. I overcame this by using the image-trace after I placed the image where I wanted it.
