Communication Overload: A Junior Experimental Project by Matthew Shearer (2013)

My illustration is depicting the endless amount of communication that results with the overload of social networking. It shows people getting sucked into the vortex all looking the same. I used the shapes of the people from the bathroom signs to show how social networking pressures people to try to strive to be more congruent with an unrealistic model of what a person should be. I also wanted to show how people really are unique by having the image inside of them be visually interesting.

I made the vortex and the light in Illustrator to give it some depth. Then I cut out the people from the magazine, ''The Week'', and scanned them in. I changed the project to Photoshop and arranged the people. I then added the logos that I downloaded. I like this project a lot and I really enjoyed making it.
