I chose to design a 1 page flyer for Day of Noise, which is an event held at Stanford annually at the radio station, KZSU, where experimental music is played for 24 hours. I learned about the even through my documentary project where I was researching experimental music and I thought it would be interesting to design how I perceive the event and experimental music. I used a noise effect as a dropshadow for the majority of the text to signify the noise that is played on the station, since the majority of experimental is essentially noise. I used illustrator to create a radio tower drawing where I made the brush strokes once again resemble static and I didn’t make it super precise since that’s what experimental is all about. I gave the tower a yellow drop shadow because I thought it added to the poster with some color and depth.
