During the start of quarantine, I downloaded a fun (but very expensive) game called Animal Crossing. I had never played before, but I bought a brand new switch lite to play it. Throughout Covid, I’ve grown to love the game so so much. I ended up becoming staff for a Discord server that gave out free animal crossing items to players who needed them and worked as a delivery and social media staff for about 5 months. The game has helped me find relaxation and comfort during these difficult times and has allowed me to help others as well. I now own an Etsy shop where I sell Animal Crossing items and packages to other players!
When challenged with this project, I knew immediately what I wanted to do. I had seen a similar flyer on Twitter, where a person had introduced their character and island in the form of a flyer/magazine page. I designed my own remake of it, an invitation to my island. I am most proud of the boarding pass I edited on, and the details and information I added to it. I also am proud of my small informational paragraph, which is translated into Japanese, as my island is based on a small rural Japanese town. I was able to use InDesign to create new formats, design a boarding pass, and practice with text and graphic design elements. Overall, this project helped me learn more about InDesign and learn how to use new tools I can apply to future projects!
