For my One Page Flyer, I chose to create a poster for a real concert that took place in 2017. The reason for choosing this as my subject is because I thought a band poster would be fun since I could include the songs the band would play. Another reason why I chose to create this flyer is because I love music and I wanted to design something for one of my favorite bands, The Shins. Since they aren’t currently playing live, I made a flyer for a concert that already happened rather than making one up. I did some research on when and where they have played and I came across this concert that took place in Australia. I chose this one in particular because one of the songs in this setlist is called Australia.
In this project, I am most proud of the balance of my use of text as well as my gained understanding of InDesign. When I first started writing out what I wanted to put on the flyer I knew I wanted a bold font that matched the vibe of the band. I then came across the font titled “Travelling” which ended up being exactly what I had in mind. It fits my expectations so well because of its bold, artistic look which intrigues the viewer's eye. For the rest of the text in my flyer I used a font titled “Bebas.” I also like this font because of its simple yet bold look which helps to make sure no text goes unseen. Overall, I am proud of how the flyer came out and I hope I can do more projects like this in the future.
