2014-2015 Self-Portrait Poems
by 1st Year Students
The Personal Poem challenged students to create pattern of images that metaphorically represent a personal statement (which they chose from their “Things I’ve Learned In My Life So Far” brainstorm). Taking their poem into Design, they translated two written images into two corresponding photographs, forming the Self-Portrait Diptych - a visual juxtaposition of images that communicates personal meaning metaphorically. The following poems are from Film Students only - you can see their Self-Portrait Video which is an extension of the Personal Poem through this webpage. Digital Media students created a stylized photo and recorded themselves reading their poem and posted both as part of their Self-Portrait Website which you can see here.
