Students were challenged to pick any song, rewrite some of the lyrics as a parody and then record themselves performing their new lyrics. These parody songs were produced as an introduction and a fun way to learn how to use Pro Tools in Digital Media class. Students learned to remove vocals with EQs and phase shifting, boost low frequencies with low pass filters, record vocals with a mic, mix in new vocals and add audio effects such as reverb.
Prior to 2017, students were not challenged to create Parody Songs.
Music Video productions from 2011-2015 - some of the were pretty funny. We learned that students are very passionate about music specifically and many wouldn't compromise and collaborate nicely.
Check out these old school 2008 Satirical Music Productions where students didn't just remove the vocals, but rather performed the song with either live or digitized music.
