I created this parody about a cat because my brother and I often change song lyrics to be about our cat, Tigger, when singing along to music. We’ve done this for many years, and it’s a fun way to sing along to songs we don’t know the lyrics to while honoring Tigger’s memory. Additionally, I often change every vowel to a meow when singing alone to memorize music for choir without a piano. Ultimately, I chose to make this parody about a cat because I thought it would be fun and unique, allowing me to continue my tradition of singing about cats.
During the production of this song, I learned to use Adobe Audition to add effects like reverb, pitch correction, and noise reduction. I also learned how to record high-quality audio at the desired volume and create well-balanced music. Balancing the volume of the background music with my varying vocal takes was challenging, as clips were often too quiet or too loud, and the vocal takes were often too early or too late. Ultimately, I am most proud of my ability to layer different recordings to replicate the original song’s melodies.
This project taught me how to use Adobe Audition to ensure my recordings are of the highest quality and correct volume. I will use these skills for future projects that require audio recordings and for any personal projects I may have. Through this experience, I gained a new appreciation and admiration for producers, as balancing the volume and timing of recordings proved to be quite challenging.
