The song I chose to parody was Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day. Due to its bold and simple lyric structure, it felt perfect for messing with. When coming up with ideas, one of the first things that came to my mind was school, specifically academics, and how everyone wants to get the best scores possible. In doing so, they sometimes base their identity off of their scores. To make fun of this painful concept, I wrote about the opposite, where the singer doesn't believe in the integrity of their bad score because it conflicts with their awesome identity. Something we can learn from this parody is to enjoy life for what it is and not let mere academic pressure get the best of us.
