The song I chose was day n nite by kid cudi, this inspired me to write my parody song about chipotle, I chose to sing about beans and rice along with other food that would go in my chipotle bowl.
The overall process of writing the lyrics of my parody song was actually pretty difficult. I had my friend come over and for maybe two hours me and him tried to think of topics and songs. until we finally landed on day n nite, he said “beans and rice” then we decided that was the best we had once we finished writing the lyrics I was really happy with what I had and the next day I started doing my takes for the song. For part of the song it was pretty difficult to stay on tempo so I ended up doing a lot of takes maybe like 5 until I got one I really liked. Something I really valued about the process of the production is seeing the progress of my song getting better and better, throughout all my takes I was unhappy with the results for the majority of my singing so I kept a good bar that I could eventually meet with more practice until I got the take that I thought was up to my standards.
My parody song doesn’t represent a message that I can think of because in the process of writing my lyrics I was more just putting words on paper and getting it done and in the end the meaning of the song is just about food. I am most proud of my singing and my lyrics because it took me a pretty long time and I did put a good amount of energy and thought into my writing so I’m proud of my perseverance overtime in doing multiple takes and not giving up on the songwriting aspect.
