Students are taught Technical Communication Skills through the use of DSLR Cameras, Tascam Audio Recorders, Adobe applications (like Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects), Avid Pro Tools, and Google Apps. During the Conceptual unit in English and Digital media, I learned how analyze art and figure out what the deeper meaning of art pieces was and how to connect with artists through art. I was also taught how to use a Tascam Audio Recorder and Adobe Premiere Pro. While the process of learning how the Tascam Audio recorder worked, Adobe Premiere Pro was a bit more difficult. In the end, I found out how to work with Adobe Premiere Pro and created my first video.

Art Reflection

San Francisco Museum Of Modern Arts

For a field trip, we were taken to SFMOMA(San Francisco Museum Of Modern Arts). We were tasked with finding a piece of art that made us feel Awe. The piece I chose was a concert poster for Howlin’ Wolf (Wikipedia link), a blues singer. While working on this project, I learned how to connect my life experiences and feelings to a piece of art. For this piece in particular, I connected to a fond memory of my Mother and I going to a concert. While working on this project, I learned how to use a TASCAM audio recorder and how to produce videos using Adobe Premiere Pro. I also learned how to incorporate elements that would make a viewer of my art feel awe.

Reflection

I think the most important thing I learned from producing this video was how to analyze a piece of art and find meaning and connections within that art piece; and how to use professional video software to make a production.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="663" src="https://freestyleacademy.rocks/~AJJ/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/AJ-PP-Art-Reflection-Video-1024x663.png" alt="This is how I made the final video. Also, the place where i took the photo had orange lighting so the original image was kind of messed up. I was also still trying to learn how to use the camera I was given.

Parody Introduction

Quick Note: This section is incomplete.

My prosses for this project was to basically find a song that had a good tune to it and use the instrumental version of that song to create a parody. I went through a few songs before I settled on “The Mind Electric” by Miracle Music. I chose this song in particular because of the lyrics in the original song. The original song has a few interpretations that can be found here (The Tally Hall Wiki). The way the song goes just sounds like someone is going absolutely insane. And that’s where the connection to my parody of the song comes in. The game that I sing about is called RainWorld and it drives me absolutely CRAZY. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve wanted to throw my computer at the wall because of this game. However, the struggle is worth it in the end. Its an absolutely stunning game once you get the hang of it. As of writing this, I’ve played RainWorld for about 344.2 Hours (About 2 weeks). One of the most memorable parts of this game for me appears in the Artificer campaigns Final region, Metropolis. Metropolis is an abandoned city that you need to get through to beat the campaign. It has some of my personal favorite songs of the game, “Lost City” by Progfox and “Threat – Metropolis (day)” by Connor “12LBS” Skidmore. Metropolis also has some of my favorite rooms of all time like LC_Highestpoint, which is where you can see all the other abandoned cities.

Artist Statement

In this song, I speak about the average new player experience in a game called RainWorld. The lyrics in the song represent the hardships that a new player experiences during their first playthrough. For this piece, I looked back on my, and others, first experience playing RainWorld and took all those experiences and turned it into a song. I used Adobe Audition to create the song, and the song is sung to Miracle Music’s The Mind Electric. Looking back, it was a good idea not to use my initial idea as it would’ve sounded much worse and had less personal meaning to me. The focus of my piece is to explain the average rainWorld experience and the difficulty of the game. For context, RainWorld is a 2d platformer game set in an active ecosystem. The game has a VERY high learning curve and an 88 page community-created movement guide. The point of my song is to tell people the struggle that people have faced in RainWorld and hopefully get some people to try the game out. The main struggle I had while writing this song was how to get the lyrics to flow with the music and finding a song to sing it to. I chose The Mind Electric because it’s a song that I enjoy and I felt like the tone of the song fitted my initial experience with RainWorld. I think the only thing I would change is some of the lyrics. I forced some of the lyrics to work and I kind of wish I would have changed my wording.

Lyrics

[V1]

Think of each fall and painful lizard death

As just a small part of the game

Think of each moment holding your breath

In

Drainage system as you drown again

[V2]

Resident SlugCat, how are you here?

I thought I locked the retaining wall

I want you to leave and never come back

So I guess ill tell you where to go

Pebbles, your greatness

May i

Explain?

I was washed in from the western intake

I really miss my family

So-

Leave me and go back whence you came

♫

I’ve gotta climb down the wall

And pay six grains a little visit

Trying not to anger locals

And get speared by all the scabies

[V4]

Now that I’m finally out of that region

I can go to chimney canopy

Im almost there, industrial complex

Is that a king vulture I see?

♫

♫

Oh my god, ive been sent back

All the way back to the walls gate

I cant-

Get over the fact that I was gonna make it

♫

Spiraling down chimney again

I refuse to go to sky islands

It is so much harder than

Just going through industrial then outskirts

♫

See how the lizards spin

And they keep on chasing you

And they keep on chasing you

And they keep on chasing you, till you die

(WHAHAHYYYY!)

See how the rain timer ticks down

And you cant find a shelter to sleep in

And now your gonna die to the

RAIN

ALL

AGAIN

Why did i even choose to play this game again?!

Ive been stuck in farm arrays days!!!!!

[V5]

Once you pass through the filtration system

You can see it, its the end of the game

Hold the down arrow key for about 5 minutes

And now you’re finished, congrats!

Introduction The conceptual art project spotlights creative risk-taking through multiple mediums and challenges students to express themselves through their art.
