For our Narrative II project in English, we were tasked with creating an original story with other students in our class. Together, each group would work to create compelling and deep characters and place them into a world and create a story. My group chose to create a story about loss and found family where a character sets off to find their brother in a dark, dystopian, and sci-fi world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Character Biography<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As sort of our introduction to the Worldbuilding unit, we had to create a characters to help flesh out our world. You can find out about my character, Mori, below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basic Visual\/Behavioral description:
Mori is a Sergal who mostly keeps to himself out of social anxiety. Mori is described in his records as \u201ctall and a bit boney here and there\u2026always slinking with bad posture unless you can enthral him; he\u2019ll snap up in an instant and investigate whatever caught his attention.\u201d A testimony of Mori\u2019s appearance from a local shop keeper[1] was as follow\u2019s: \u201cSuch a nervous lookin fella! Always so silen\u2019. Can neva\u2019 ear im\u2019 approachin\u2019. Dispait\u2019 tha, e\u2019 can be quite clumsy wih\u2019 dem proses[shorthand for prosthetics] e\u2019 as\u2019! When I trieda\u2019 poke im\u2019 bout is\u2019 proses\u2026is\u2019 eyes went wide n\u2019 he stood up ta\u2019 full heigh\u2019! E\u2019 made me fall back on mah behaihnd he stood up so quick. Tha\u2019 stare e\u2019 gave me\u2026 eugh(shivers<\/em>). He ran outa\u2019 da\u2019 store afta e\u2019 gave me dat heart attac\u2019!\u201d Another testimony from a neighbor goes as follows: \u201cDo I know Mori personally? Ha! Well\u2026sort of. I mean, I don\u2019t know too much about his character but I know about his background; ya know, since I’m an information broker? Gah! Whatever! Anyway, Mori\u2019s parents\u2026 well his mom was turned into a coat and his dad\u2026well, no one really knows what happened to his dad. His past? After his mom was taken down, he was taken away and had some pretty nasty stuff done to him. The details aren\u2019t free but I can tell you this: those proses aren\u2019t on him by choice\u2026something, something, grey building in the watterhen[2] zone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noticeable habits:
He mostly slinks unnoticed through town. He tries to keep a low profile since he has a hard time talking to people. He keeps a thick, worn cloak tightly wrapped around himself and conceals himself in it. He gets tense if people try to talk to him and he can\u2019t keep eye contact very well. He\u2019s usually just wandering around town, looking in shop windows and admiring antiques and artisan works(somehow, his posture gets better when observing the crafts). He can disappear faster than the blink of an eye and his footsteps are as quiet as a cat. When pressed about his prosthetics, he stands up tall and locks eye contact. He does this for a few seconds then vanishes when the person blinks. He runs off to a dark corner where no one is and quietly cries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Personal things:
He doesn\u2019t have very good experience with people who say that \u201cthey\u2019re here to help\u201d. The last person who said that to him traumatized him and gave him his signature prosthetics. Because of that, he now has an extremely bad view on raptors[3] and people who may actually be trying to help him. His prosthetics are his sore spot and if people even mention them casually, he gets reminders of what happened. Because of what he went through when he was younger, he can no longer interact normally with people. He thinks everyone is trying to hurt him. Everyone except his pet Snippy[4]. He loves Snippy. He would literally go back to that place for Snippy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Core:
He wants to see his family again. He wants to have his body back. He wants to get a house in the upper layers to live in. He doesn’t want to ever see the marsh ever again. Most of all, he wants the \u201cbad ones\u201d gone so no one has to ever go through the same thing that he had to go through. He wants to get Snippy a nice bed and fresh food. He\u2019s just so cautious of those around him that he can\u2019t focus on the things that he wants.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
