Showcase

Hi there! I’m Aidan, and I’m currently pursuing a future in 3D animation. Whether it be for a game company, software company, or even a medical company, I think the uprising of Virtual Reality, as well as the 3D Space, has an important current and future role in all industries, especially modern animation. I’m excited to be a part of this new future and hope to grow along with it.

My current plans for the future include a 56,000 scholarship and acceptance to California College of the Arts as well as a summer road trip where I plan to record a film series for my own entertainment as well as the media.

One of my proudest creations this year in Animation class. I named him Prince Snarles.

I first began 3D modeling in a very outdated software called Sculptris. Due to how old it was and how poorly it ran on my computer, I learned to do 3D Modeling really quickly, but also extremely efficient. If otherwise, I would risk my computer overheating. Graduating this year to a more stable program like Maya, and then to Zbrush and Substance Painter felt like a boulder being lifted off of my shoulders. However, even with that rock gone, I still manage to create things rather quickly. This piece alone only took me an hour and a half to make, and I’m insanely proud of how it turned out.

My Senior Final for this year. Filmed with assets I made myself, as well as popular VRChat assets to show the game’s style off.

I got up to a lot during quarantine. I got rather tired of not being able to go outside, so decided to try out Virtual Reality for the first time. I stumbled upon a game entitled “VRChat” and got hooked on it almost immediately. Worlds where you fight dragons, play board games, and watch videos, all with your friends were just the tip of the iceberg for this game. I started making Avatars and Worlds of my own for this game and re-kindled my 3D modeling passion for deep love and passion for film, acting, and storytelling. What better way to show off my interests than to combine them all into one piece?

This year of freestyle has been a wild ride. I would’ve never guessed that by the end of this year I’d have the opportunity to show off projects to professionals in the industry, literally meeting the people on whom we base our own work on. I went from having little to no experience in any editing program to now well over half of Adobe’s programs under my belt as well as all industry-standard programs for 3D computer animation. Coming back to a campus inside of being inside all day was a rough switch at first for this year, but it was amazing to finally use all of the equipment freestyle had been graciously donated. I had a plethora of routes and ways to make my film, and I was so surprised at how versatile each person was with their own skillset. Despite using the same general program, we all were embraced with a challenge for personal creativity instead of doing similar things. The fact we get to have all those cultural and personal backgrounds put together I think is the best part of this program. Thank you Freestyle.
