WELCOME!

To my Profile Unit Website! Here, you can find the various projects we created in our fifth unit here at Freestyle. For this unit, everyone was given the oppurtunity to highlight someone within our community that has an interesting background and is involved with a researchable issue for this project.
Using our star interviewees as our building point, we went about creating several pieces of media based on our "characters". In English, we drafted our own profie papers about our interviewee which included pieces of personal research and direct interviews from both our star interviewee and other people who have some sort of relationship with the person we were profiling. We then took that essay in turned it into a magazine in Design. You can view my magazine by clicking on the thymbnail in this section. Using Adobe InDesign, we created a 6 page magazine using several instances of Adobe Photoshop along with it.Our magazines included several images of our subjects along with different design elements as well. In Web Audio, we created a media feature presentation for our star interviewee. Using Adobe After Effects, we used the many tools and effects available to us in After Effects to create our media feature which was based off of a condensed version of our essay.

For my profile project, I chose to star Patrick Carras, a physical education teacher and varsity football coach at Los Altos High School. Carras, being a California local, attended Pleasant Valley High School in Chico, CA. Being a three-sport athlete all four years, Carras continued to play sports into college. Carras played football at Cabrillo Community College before transferring to Chico State where he earned his degree in Physical Education (2002) and his teaching credentials (2003). Currently teaching in his 10th year of teaching physical eduaction, Carras, along with every other PE teacher in our nation, have taken on the burden of keeping today's young adults enthusiastic about physical activity. I felt that PE teachers weren't receiving the recognition they deserve which is why I chose to base my project on the issue of inactivity amongst young adults today.

The overall goal of the Profile unit here at Freestyle Academy is to see how well we can portray someone within our community who is involved with a social problem through several forms of media. After reading and reviewing several other profiles written by several others, we then went about creating our own profiles of someone who we thought was interesting. With Patrick Carras being my star in this project, continue through my website to learn more about him and the problem he is involved with.

PROFILE MEDIA

Here you may find all the pieces of media we have created for our star interviewee in this unit. Presented in this section is my media feature. Using Adobe After Effects for the first time, we created our first video using this Adobe program. Having no background knowledge on how to use the actual program, I struggled with it. Being a Web Audio student here at Freestyle, I have never actually opened up the program before. With the help of some Film students, I was able to come up with the video below after following several pointers and explanation.

I was allowed to sort of shadow Carras in one of his classes to take several required photos for this section.
