Art I would ADD to my Personal Museum

Ahab by Frank Stella

This piece reflects my taste as I am really interested in combining two distinct genres, topics, or ideas together. The coming together of graphic shapes, gradients, black and white patterns, etched over a red tapestry gives me a feeling of entrapment, as if one individual with all the ideas he has is suddenly faced in a pool of blood. How does he escape? It turns out that the name of this piece, Ahab, translates to the name of an evil King who ruled Israel with his wealth, destroying the altars of God. This is especially depicted in the yellow decorative plate in the background, possibly signifying Ahab’s powerful regime of blood which nobody could overtake.
