Worldbuilding Unit

In our English class, we worked in small groups to create a fictional world and story that could be turned into a movie, cartoon, or book. This project was much bigger than last year’s flash fiction one, letting us flesh out our world. We read “Parable of the Sower” by Octavia Butler, which helped us understand how to build worlds. At the end, we pitched our ideas to the class, who acted as critics.

A challenge to me was creating ideas for a realistic yet fantasy-like universe. Most of my writings derive from romance, poetry, etc so creating something like this with my peers was especially challenging and new.

Narrative Treatment
