“How can you find, explore, and/or expand your passion?”

For the Explorations Project, all Freestyle Juniors explored their own passions, and skills that they need to improve on. In Design, my elective, we had lots of creative freedom on what we were to do for the project. Initially, I was going to research architecture in SF throughout the decades, and create an infographic in Illustrator. However, I decided I want to create something tangible and decided to do watercolor, as in the past I have done oil and acrylic paint, but watercolor has been weak point for me. With Ms. P’s advice and feedback the finished product turned out surprisingly well! The 21st Century Skills that I used for the project was creativity and self-direction, as given the short time limit of this project I had to keep myself on track and make sure what I was doing was manageable and not too much of a perfectionist during the time given.

Overall, this is one of my favorite projects with the creative independence we were given and for me being able to conquer a media which I had feared/disliked in the past.

For Digital Media, we experimented with Midi and Pro Tools to create music. In the past, I have played a bit of piano and violin, which made me value Midi as I got to experiment with instruments that I did not know even existed! The 21st century skill used for this project was Technological Literacy, as I learnt a lot about Midi throughout this project and the trial and error in making the music was quite frequent, but I am happy with how the final result turned out.
