Personal Museum Curation section<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The overarching question of our Reflections Project is, \u201cWho Am I?\u201d In English, I used College Essay Essentials<\/em> to outline a key part of who I am and express your identity creatively through the personal essay writing process. Our personal museum curation project was from our trip to the SF MOMA. We collected art that we found a connection too and art that we did not have connection, for the purpose on discovering our values. We then showed our piece to a friend or family member who judged if these pieces represented us accurately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This piece caught my eye because of the history behind the various pieces of plaster casts that were scattered around. I have always been a huge fanatic for historical architecture especially in European regions. Therefore, reading the passage about the piece and discovering how the artist had the intention of bringing all the casts together for a bigger product was something I valued because I always strive for community and having each individual be an important essence in the support of the other. No matter what background, or size in the piece, every piece comes together in unity, which is a beautiful thing and something I value to have in my life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I saw the amount of yellow in this piece, I was drawn to it. I love the color yellow because of the positivity and happiness that is represented by it. Looking more into the piece I recognized the amount of plastic and manmade products it contained. It was quite hidden message where happiness is often brought by man made products that we may not necessarily need. Aside from this observation, this piece really represented the happiness I aspire to have in my life. Whether be the little things such as a starfish in the middle or a plate towards the bottom, all of the pieces are able to generate some form of happiness. Through the little things I try to radiate this same form of happiness to other people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At first, I didn\u2019t know how to feel about this piece because there was a lot of uncertainty in me but also a spark of memory from when I was little and would always look out the window of the car, train, motorcycle, etc, and everything would be blurry. Yet, some times while I was looking at whatever scene it was, I would focus on one specific spot and nothing would be blurry. This piece sparked the value of awareness that I hold to be one of my core values because we are always being consumed by some sort of technology or person and we never seem to be present. In this piece despite the blurriness, there is a sense of presence of looking out into the world and not being distracted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When viewing this piece, I felt a lot of negative emotions. There is just so much occurring at once and as you attempt to look at every detail you become distracted by the surroundings. This piece doesn\u2019t represent me because I value happiness and balance whereas in this piece, there is much destruction, negativity and instability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This piece has a lot of red colors and black which often to reflect negativity and anger. Therefore I did not feel a connection with this piece to any of my core values because while I value happiness and mindfulness, this individual looks upset and trapped. In some instances of my life I do feel like this when handling an obstacle, yet it isn\u2019t something I hold close to my core values. Looking at the bright side of things is something I always try to do and in this piece it seems to be the complete opposite.

Conclusion: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the junior year of freestyle, I was fortunately able to create many different pieces of artwork. Many in which I am both proud of but still hold criticism to till this day. With my artwork what I always seem to criticize is the usage of color because for me color holds a lot of importance in the purpose of the artwork. Another criticism I would have for myself is the structure of the piece whether be the photo following rule of thirds or my book having every single detailed position of a photo or text be perfect. In the pieces I chose to represent my core values, they had more positive colors such as the yellow piece or they were structured in a way that was clean and organized like the piece of the various particles of casts. In the pieces I did not think represented me were filled with red and black and seemed to have a lot going on which isn\u2019t my style. I prefer when my artwork is more clean and organized in some way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mandala Section
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Digital Media we created mandalas. This was one of the most relaxing processes. We created the mandalas on Adobe Illustrator. We set up our document to reflect our mandalas multiple times. That we only need to draw a piece of the mandala. I created one black and white mandala laser cut on to white\/black plastic and one color mandala.
