This week, I was challenged to use my knowledge of weight and mass to take a balanced photo. In this photo I took, the trash bin is the main subject, being placed in the foreground. However, its visual weight is balanced by the tree behind it. Even though the tree is further back, because of its size, it’s visual weight is enough to balance the trash bin’s. Along with my knowledge of visual weight, I used the rule of thirds to create the composition. The trash bin and tree are both placed along the lines of the rule of thirds. My use of the rule of thirds combined with balanced visual weight create a pleasing composition that moves the eye around.
