This composition challenge was to create a landscape using negative space. This photo was taken last week on my trip to Death Valley with my family. It was just my luck that this was the challenge for this month, because I had plenty of opportunities to take photos of barren landscapes. This is an image of Artist Palette, a series of canyons and mountains in Death Valley. This was one of my favorite photos from the trip, because while it largely is plain and barren, the sun is glowing and the background and there are pops of colors on the hills in front of me created by volcanic eruptions.
